Course details

Urban sketching is all about drawing on location, whether indoors or out, and capturing scenes from direct observation. Sketching outdoors can be challenging, requiring adaptation to environmental and weather conditions.

This course is an introduction to the basics of urban sketching with watercolours, helping you to embrace the joy and spontaneity of creating art outdoors. Learn essential techniques, overcome challenges and experience the joy of painting on location.

About the trainer

Zhou Huiling

Zhou Huiling is an artist and urban sketcher who specialises in using watercolours to convey the moods of scenes and landscapes. Over the years, she has conducted several workshops for the community. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication from Nanyang Technological University.

An active member of Urban Sketchers Singapore since 2015 and part of its admin team since 2020, she is dedicated to her passion for painting in real-time and the sketching community. Huiling carries her sketchbook everywhere, capturing the beauty of everyday urban cityscapes and nature landscapes.

Art students, prospective art students, art enthusiasts, teachers and/or anyone interested to develop their drawing and sketching skills. Preferably with basic drawing skills.
