Take your ceramics to the next level with our three-week raku exploration. This course delves into the exciting world of raku firing, creating stunning pieces with unpredictable, smoky beauty. Prior clay-building experience required. Master glazes, reduction techniques, and witness the magic of raku first-hand raku-fired treasures.
About the trainer
Ahmad Abu Bakar
Ahmad Abu Bakar is a distinguished artist and educator who graduated from LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts and the University of Tasmania with a strong academic background in ceramics and sculpture.
As an artist, he has showcased his works in various countries including Singapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Australia and Indonesia. Ahmad's artistic journey includes participating in prestigious events such as the Jakarta Contemporary Ceramics Biennale and the Singapore Biennale 2013, where he collaborated with inmates from Singapore Changi Prison.
Ahmad's dedication to art extends to mentoring inmates in Singapore Changi Prison's arts programme, instilling creativity and fostering confidence through art-making. With extensive experience in the field, he currently serves as an adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic and the National Institute of Education, inspiring the next generation of artists.
