Course details
Discover the versatility of acrylic paint. Participants will explore pictorial composition, the key to getting the right shades and hues, creating textures, form and value through still life, landscape, portrait and figure painting with this richly coloured medium.
The prerequisite for Level II and above courses is the completion of the previous level or prior experience. Applicants who wish to join Level II and above and have prior experience in acrylic painting are required to submit art works for trainer’s review. Applicants with no prior experience are encouraged to start from Level I.

About the trainer
Liao Junhui
Liao Junhui graduated with a degree in fine arts at LASALLE College of the Arts and is proficient in various mediums from charcoal, acrylic, oil paint, mixed medium to sculptures. He was an adjunct lecturer in LASALLE and has 15 years of experience in conducting professional art appreciation classes, art workshops and team bonding art events for all walks of life and organisations.
Professionally, Jun Hui practices art in his studio. His works are mostly inspired by memories and personal experiences. In his research, he tries to relate the dichotomy of opposing concepts, such as reality and memories, change and control.

Chinese Calligraphy: History and Art
This foundational course explores the historical evolution and cultural significance of Chinese calligraphy, tracing its origins from ancient China to its modern influence on artistic expression. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how this revered art form developed through different dynasties, studying iconic calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi and Zhang Xu and their contributions to various script styles. Ceramics for Absolute Beginners I, II, III & IV
Use clay to form objects that are both functional and non-functional. Techniques covered in Level I include pinching, coiling and slab construction. Levels II and III focus on wheel-throwing techniques. The prerequisite for Level II and above courses is the completion of the previous level or prior experience. Applicants who wish to join Level II and above and have prior experience in ceramics are required to submit artworks for the trainer’s review. Chinese Ink Painting: Further Ink Work
Landscape painting is regarded as the highest form of Chinese ink painting. In this course, participants will work on large pieces of artwork with a focus on painting various landscapes and surrounding objects with accuracy. This course is suitable for those who have completed Chinese Ink Painting level XV and/or professional artists who are looking to deepen their techniques in landscape painting.
