See Singapore through a travel drawing eye. Travel sketching is a new and deeper way to engage with your environment within any city or country you visit. Learn basic skills and easy techniques that can be used during your travels with travelling sketch artist Susan Olij.
Note: This is a blended-learning course, a combination of online and face-to-face learning.

About the trainer
Susan Olij
Susan Olij is a travelling artist who completed a world tour to 15 countries in 15 months in 2019, and has produced numerous travel sketchbooks of Singapore and Southeast Asia. Educated in fashion design and fine arts in the UK and US, Susan runs her own studio and teaches the travel sketching Short Courses at LASALLE. Her teaching techniques focus on observation skills and techniques of travel artists working outdoors and on locations using two hemisphere brain learning and style.

Chinese Calligraphy: History and Art
This foundational course explores the historical evolution and cultural significance of Chinese calligraphy, tracing its origins from ancient China to its modern influence on artistic expression. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how this revered art form developed through different dynasties, studying iconic calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi and Zhang Xu and their contributions to various script styles. Ceramics for Absolute Beginners I, II, III & IV
Use clay to form objects that are both functional and non-functional. Techniques covered in Level I include pinching, coiling and slab construction. Levels II and III focus on wheel-throwing techniques. The prerequisite for Level II and above courses is the completion of the previous level or prior experience. Applicants who wish to join Level II and above and have prior experience in ceramics are required to submit artworks for the trainer’s review. Chinese Ink Painting: Further Ink Work
Landscape painting is regarded as the highest form of Chinese ink painting. In this course, participants will work on large pieces of artwork with a focus on painting various landscapes and surrounding objects with accuracy. This course is suitable for those who have completed Chinese Ink Painting level XV and/or professional artists who are looking to deepen their techniques in landscape painting.
